It’s no secret that events, especially trade shows, produce significant waste; with stand graphics, signage and branding being integral to the events success. However, we, along with our exhibitors, are determined to minimise this and make a positive impact by creating a more circular economy. One of the many ways in which we are doing this is by donating and repurposing exhibitor stand graphics.
Over the last few Shows, we have worked with out stand builders, Set Construction Group, to store used stand graphics with the aim to encourage our exhibitors to have them donated. It’s no surprise that the majority of our exhibitors were on board! Their generous donations have not only provide valuable resources for schools and charities but will also help inspire countless artistic endeavours, proving that every piece of design can spark joy and innovation in unexpected places!
Take a look at the journey these graphics are on:
The majority of exhibitor graphics have been donated to Tower Bridge Primary School and Glebe Farm School, Milton Keynes ready to inspire imaginative arts and crafts activities and serve as vibrant backdrops for their upcoming Christmas performances. These graphics will not only enhance the students’ creative projects but also add a festive flair to their celebrations, proving that a second life can lead to new, joyful experiences.
Meanwhile a few boxes of exhibitor graphics have found a new home at Work & Play Scrapstore (arts and crafts reuse charity). This treasure trove, is filled with an ever-changing array of surplus goods as arts and crafts materials, ready to inspire creativity! Here you’ll find paper and paint, textiles and trimmings, buttons and bubble wrap, wood and wondrous props, foam and fine wire and so much more. With over 30 years of promoting sustainability, Work & Play Scrapstore diverts more than 60 tonnes of materials from landfills each year, transforming waste into inspiration. Their eco-friendly mission not only nurtures creativity but also helps cut carbon emissions.
Thanks to the collaboration between our exhibitors, suppliers and Show team, leftover graphics have now found new purpose and inspired creativity amongst the young. As these items embark on their second chapter, they symbolise not just a donation, but a commitment to sustainability amongst our industry.
