Giving Back: Donating Our Old Event T-Shirts

As part of our recent rebrand, we found ourselves with a surplus of outdated event t-shirts, which were still in excellent condition, but no longer reflective of our new identity. Rather than let them go to waste, we chose to donate them to a cause close to our hearts: Akwaaba Volunteers.

Akwaaba Volunteers have been actively working in Ghana since 2016, positively impacting young people and families in the community. The charity offer the chance to have a life-changing experience while contributing to the mission of creating a brighter future for the youth. They believe every individual deserves access to education, healthcare and a safe environment where children can be children, be treated with respect, and dream big.

The decision to support Akwaaba Volunteers was a personal one. Both of Story’s former CEOs, Sam and Dominique Gill, have been consistently volunteering with the foundation in Africa, and their connection made it a natural choice for this donation!

We’re proud that our old t-shirts will now be put to good use, supporting a charity that continues to create lasting impact. It’s a small gesture, but one we hope will bring comfort, and perhaps a few smiles, to the children and communities Akwaaba supports.

What’s more, we’ve been supporting Akwaaba Volunteers across the wider business over the past few months, and to date, Smart Group has raised over £15,000 for the charity. These funds will be used to support specific projects over the next two years and we can’t wait to see what impact this makes!
