Leading events company, Concerto Group, have announced the opening of a new private members club and event venue on the banks of the river Thames.

Winchester House, a stone’s throw from Putney Bridge has undergone a £100k refurbishment to restore its previous charm and character. Officially opening in March 2016 it is ideal for summer events,  boasting private lawns on the Thames and a half-acre of private gardens perfect for team building events, drinks receptions, BBQs and street food.

The building has a rich and varied history. A motto on the building’s gates, ‘Think and Thank’, dates back to its Cromwellian links and the Putney Debates of about 1646. In the early 1650s Cromwell oversaw a somewhat puritanical Church in England; the words ‘Think and Thank’ are to be found in churches of that period. Oliver Cromwell billeted his officers at Winchester House.

The space can accommodate wedding receptions, civil partnership ceremonies, Bar Mitzvahs, fashion shows, location filming, conferences, product launches and much more. The venue has a capacity for up to 100-seated guests or 150-person reception.
